I asked myself: what can I do to stop working as a builder? The answer was right here — in these mountains.

How it all started

Built with a loan, three horses, and a dream.

My name is David Quesada, and I grew up in Bijagua building houses — literally. From a young age I worked in construction, and by 2012 I had built around 8 homes including my own. But I was ready for something new.

That year I submitted a project to IMAS — a national economic aid program. Out of 900 students, only 90 qualified. My project: Rio Celeste Horseback Riding Tours. It was approved. With 1,217,000 colones I bought 3 horses and built a 60-square-meter stable. Today I have 9 horses and a full operation built from the ground up.

I studied to be a certified guide and I lead every tour personally — no third-party guides, no agencies. When you book with David Tours, you get me: a local who knows every trail, every river, and every hidden corner of this rainforest.
